    The project is situated in a green area outside the city center, in an alpine landscape featured by well recognizable natural and anthropic signs. The structure of building is exposed and highlighted by details that reveal the dimension and expressiveness of the wood and relate to the beauty of the Dolomite landscape. The supporting structure has been conceived in timber, both for environmental compatibility and consistency with the Alpine building tradition, from which it draws inspiration.

The intervention is framed within the new paradigm of smart sustainability to improve the performance of the rainwater management system: recharging groundwater levels and fighting heat island.

    Ceramic Sustainable Urban Drainage System

    Sustainable drainage system (CERSUDS) pilot experience that uses low commercial value ceramics in stock as a permeable urban pavement. This floor allows water infiltration, runoff treatment and water reuse as part of a SUDS. The demonstrator, with an area of approximately 3,000 m2, has been built in a consolidated urban environment of light and pedestrian traffic located in the municipality of Benicàssim (Spain).

    ReWood

    A standardized building facade panel made from waste wood.

    We make facade-panels from "waste-wood" in a collaboration with recycling stations and municipalities. At the same time we create CSR-jobs by providing a safe productionline that can be maintained by citizens outside the jobmarket. By upcyling and refining waste-wood we are giving new life to waste-wood. In Denmark 283.000 tonnes of wood - that we are able to recycle - are being thrown out every year. That amount equals 283.000 tonnes CO2 that we can save and storage.

    Circular Economy Goes BIM: A New Age for Building Design?

    Global warming potentials, health aspects, recyclability, separability and flexibility are the main sustainability factors in the future building process. EPEA made it possible to connect these aspects based on the Cradle to Cradle principle with BIM. This complex interrelationship for a consistent circular economy is overcome using a combination of different software. Thereby, the BIM model is able to depict the c2c parameters using clear colouring to indicate the elements' quality.

    Grey water system in residential project

    A residential project Botanica K has been the first residential project in Czech Republic to start using the grey water system. The water flowing down the drains of showers, bathtubs and bathroom sinks – water only slightly dirty – could receive basic water treatments, such as filtration and disinfection. Then this treated "grey water" could be piped back into bathrooms to use to flush toilets, rather than drinking water.
