    Lidl Visby – Sweden’s first Zero Emission certified building

    Visby, Sweden
    Sweden's first Zero-CO2 building has been developed by the food store Lidl and LINK Arkitektur, through a pilot project for SGBC. The concept for the new store consists of several collaborative solutions that contributes to achieving the certification requirements, such as re-using waste heat, energy-efficient lighting, photovoltaic systems, and vegetation on the roof. In addition, eco-zones for insects and birds as well as charging stations for electric cars and electric bicycles were created.

    Irota EcoLodge is a unique sustainable holiday resort in Northern Hungary. It is the first, and so far the only carbon-neutral accommodation in Hungary and in the wider region. The two Dutch owners show that sustainability through circularity and net-zero carbon can go hand in hand with luxury tourism. Even though the resort is located in one of the poorest regions of the EU, this is a commercially viable project that did not need require any subsidies to make it happen.

    Reuse. Reduce. ReCapture. By integrating reuse into the design process, White ReCapture enables reuse on a larger scale in a time and cost-effective way. Using 3D laser scanning, an inventory of building materials is digitalised. The digital model, in combination with experts, provide information on which materials and parts can be used in new production as well as in rebuilding projects. Thus, the tool is a critical step forward in construction’s embrace of the circular economy.

    NEST House - Haita Land - two tourist apartament house to connect with the mountain landscape

    The NEST house, reminiscent of the old wooden beam house on the mountain site, too damaged to be saved, rises from its original forms, the existing materials gaining new functions. The weather is constantly changing: strong sun, gusts of rain and even the "lamb icing", the last snow with ice chunks in April. The elements of the house also participate in the acoustics: the constant roar of the wind, a barking in the distance, ice grains jumping from one shingle to another... but inside silence.

    Paper Pavilion / The pavilion designed with new sustainable design method: Appropriate Durability

    Paper Pavilion is designed with upcycled wasted papers to develop the new sustainable design method of “appropriate durability”: not to set up excessive architectural strength to a short-life pavilion but rather construct with appropriate materials that only last for the duration of an event. The pavilion was originally created for Copenhagen Art Fair (CHART) and it was redesigned and relocated permanently to Kunsthal Charlottenborg Museum locates in the heart of Copenhagen.
