Study Mate is a platform for students all over the Europe that helps them to find mates for their projects, start-ups, thesis, or collaborations of any kind with people from different specialities and universities.

Where is your concept/idea being developed or intended to be implemented in the EU?

Please provide a summary of your concept/ idea

We propose to create a  "social media" platform for students all over the Europe that helps them to find mates for their projects, start-ups, thesis, or collaborations of any kind with people from different specialities and universities. Our concept would provide a platform for students to engage with others, and they will be encouraged to get to know new people from either their subject area, their field of study or the filed that they are interested in working to get into building collaborations among them. We are foreseeing this system as an opportunity for universities in Europe as something that they would participate in, collectively which will bring out the collaboration of Europe in a whole new level. Students from registered universities will be able to log in to the system to build their connection network. Once the users complete the log in process by filling out necessary information, the platform will be working on the idea of post sharing system where interested parties will be shown the related posts of different students and their searches about mates with subject areas. Users will have the freedom to search for mates in different fields, as well as in different countries which will be a huge benefit for students that has different ideas they want to bring into life but somehow could not find the opportunity or the place to make them real because we are aiming to provide them the courage to bring new ideas alive, as well as the platform that would support them in the process.

Please give information about the key objectives of your concept/idea in terms of sustainability and how these would be met

Study Mate would be supporting students as well as universities to approach an interdisciplinary learning by collaborating in a wider circle. Our design will integrate the values of sustainability and will be including the benefits of the system in learning process. Study Mate will have positive impacts on sustainability since it will provide the features that now students trying to achieve with different methods and possibly a lot of different services separately, our service will be reducing the traffic of those separate services, collecting the idea under one roof, by integrating all the interested parties in Europe to work in the benefits of everyone that uses the service. 

Please give information about the key objectives of your concept/idea in terms of aesthetics and quality of experience beyond functionality and how these would be met

Study Mate is a concept idea which has a lot of room to be developed since the idea emerged from the need of function of the idea, however we as designers value a lot about aesthetics and quality of experience. Our intentions is to create a united service involving EU, which will bring a set of defined aesthetic quality and collectiveness to the idea with its unifying quality.. Our objective in that perspective is to improve user experience by supporting them in the process with easy to catch, more recognizable functions with user centred design and a supporting interface. Our key is to value the information and following that, our priority will be accompanying those set of values with our pure design solutions.

Please give information about the key objectives of your concept/idea in terms of inclusion and how these would be been met

Study Mate platform would provide an easy access for search that is going to be based on real knowledge and will include a possibility to work with students in different countries with different backgrounds. Our platform is aiming to be eliminated from any kind of discrimination that could harm any of the related subjects. Our objective is to provide an equal opportunity for everyone that is interested in sharing and collaborating with each other, could have the neutral platform that supports them, We are aiming to proceed the process by involvment of the universities that are willing to take some actions towards the same ideas as we are aiming to achieve, which will bring the collaborative environment alive, and will be an advantage for every user knowing that involved parties are valuing the similar things as they are. We think that this kind of inclusion will be encouraging for our target users.

Please explain the innovative character of your concept/ idea

The idea that shaped our design is that a lot of students think that there is no easy ways of finding people from other disciplines for certain projects. We believe that students may struggle a lot when they need to find people to work with, which could be for university projects, as well as start-up ideas or collaborations of any kind. It should also be mentioned that, finding people that are not from the same fields as students studying in, could be a lot more difficult. Following these thoughts, we think that our design is providing an innovative opportunity into the way of solving these issues, which is handling it in an innovative way by taking advantage from the technological opportunities. The difference from other platforms could be listed as being special to EU, involving universities where a certain level of reliability is provided and encouraging students to produce more following their needs, academic and professional purposes. 

Please detail the plans you have for the further development, promotion and/or implementation of your concept/idea, with a particular attention to the initiatives to be taken before May 2022

We are suggesting to develop the application right after the planning phase, in which beta version will be developed, which we assume as for 6 months period. Following that small number of universities may be involved in order to test the platform for another 6 months where we would collect the most valuable feedback that we need for one last correction and improvement phase. Later on, design could be launched and other universities that are interested could get involved.
