NEW EUROPEAN BAUHAUS RISING STARS : concepts or ideas submitted by young talents (aged 30 or less)
Project title
re_cycling air tubes
Full concept/idea title
Crafting our future with trash - when recycling is not possible, reusing takes place
Description
Bicycle tubes seem to only one use... Well, they don't! The new generation is the one deciding on what is cool, and we can do that while saving the world. Bauhaus has to be turned upside down! Inspired by its historic interdisciplinarity the aim is to combine sustainability, functionality, and aesthetics to inspire the daily lives of the whole community instead of only the ones who can afford fancy products.  we empower the hobbyist, artisan, and artist!

II. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
Please provide a summary of your concept/ idea
2021 - several years of reducing and recycling proved not to be enough & in most cases replacing a product is cheaper than repairing a small fault - change has to come from within! Reusing in arts, crafts, and design has to take place in order to change the way we perceive what is "New". Handwork, traditional techniques, and meditative practices applied to repurpose old, faulty, or broken products invite us to think about what sustainability means, which materials to use, and the skills we shall learn/teach in the future.
Please give information about the key objectives of your concept/idea in terms of sustainability and how these would be met
Our values have on their foundation commodity... that is what keeps us from immediately stopping mechanized production, the overuse of natural resources, mass consumption and even though it is very clear to everyone we are exploiting the earth. To prove that we can do everything we must first care for the environment. We can't just hope to achieve climate neutrality within a few decades... we have to actively learn, practice and teach ethical environmental practices. Replace the ease of commodity with green thinking - in order to enhance our quality of life we should also plan on having a place to enjoy ourselves. It is about bridging the global challenges with local solutions to achieve our climate targets and support a broader transformation perspective. The happiness of repairing an old beloved product with a visionary technique - using what we can find around us to transform our lives. Let's add green to the yellow red and blue?
Please give information about the key objectives of your concept/idea in terms of aesthetics and quality of experience beyond functionality and how these would be met
The question to be asked is not only “How harmful is the new product that comes into the world?”, But also: “How can the old be repaired?”. There is no excuse not to repair something... Vintage and old is the new cool! Our aesthetic tastes are conditioned by money, education and social prestige. Instead of complying with all of those thoughts we should improve and refine our taste and this requires a radical change in choosing what are, in society, the "cool" techniques and materials. The bicycle tubes can be used with several techniques and for varied purposes. The woven product can end up having several uses for example in furniture (chairs, hammocks, curtains, etc.), for decoration (as artworks), in "playgrounds" as therapeutic material - for children as well as adults, etc. In the 21st century, innovation should be a synonym of renovation instead of production.
Please give information about the key objectives of your concept/idea in terms of inclusion and how these would be been met
the product can be easily acquired, it is free of costs since in most bicycle shops they end up throwing away the punctured tubes to the trash anyway, creates a great meditative experience while weaving, after being finished it is long-lasting, easily repairable and although it looks like leather or some high-tech material its feel is unique. people who can't afford new This product is proof that by examining which progress we want to achieve and how we can find solutions on the most unexpected circumstances.   To critically address our current social development and to focus on a pleasant uncomplicated life for everyone - which is a so far unfulfilled promise of Bauhaus' modernism.
Please explain the innovative character of your concept/ idea
There is a wish to make it available for everyone for the sake of human connection instead of trying to capitalize or make exclusive the designer/artist work. Connecting the previous Bauhaus thinking, which had faulty modernist ideals, with our actual needs - Bauhaus stood for a new departure. The New European Bauhaus shall stand for transition. Not the definitive arrival, for there is always space for improvement and learning. The perspective is therefore necessarily embedded in fundamental questions about the design of society beyond growth in the direction of a socio-ecological, “large” transformation. Differentiation and reflection are required, because the original approaches of the Bauhaus appear creative, humanistic, experimental, and even sustainable. But the history of the Bauhaus is also ambivalent and deals with the integration into industrial mass production and growth pressures. Rationality and exploitation became the determining logic, while the social and ecological consequential costs of the same were either outsourced to the next generation or to the global south.
Please detail the plans you have for the further development, promotion and/or implementation of your concept/idea, with a particular attention to the initiatives to be taken before May 2022
This is an ongoing process of discovering techniques that this material can be used with. The prospect is to make it available to everyone by providing guides (or personal help) so everyone can produce, repair their own objects. Also, when sold, these products keep money cycling on a smaller community level, by turning local nonusable objects into meaningful experiences. I aim therefore aim for real change as opposed to sparkling prestige of new objects in glossy brochures or news feeds.
