II. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
Please provide a summary of your project
ROOM2030 project aims to digitalize and industrialize the construction sector in order to improve productivity by providing a new solution in modular construction. The standardized design is suitable for implementing a serialized manufacturing line inspired by the auto industry while maintaining a high degree of customization of the product finished look and configuration. The ROOM2030 solution allows sectors like tourism, elderly and student residences to quickly adapt to peaks in demand, and the nomad modules (easily relocated with no impact on local environment) provide a solution for renting and coworking in any location. The main value provided by ROOM2030 is the innovation and technologies integrated in the modules. Born from an R&D consortium between key Spanish stakeholders from the construction sector, Room2030 collaborates with each of the partners to develop and adapt their technologies to the solution, re-defining the value chain as a new concept: ROOM2030 Ecosystem.
Please give information about the key objectives of your project in terms of sustainability and how these have been met
Impact of modules and manufacturing on the environment, protocols for monitoring campaigns on modules’ location, dynamization of local socioeconomic networks, supporting sandbox normative at local level, integration of cross-sectorial innovations related to biodiversity, environment protection and climate.  Optimized manufacturing process with minimal/zero waste generation, waste recycling, byproducts/rejects/scraps reduction and repurposing, environment monitoring policies for low impact on factory surroundings Green and biobased materials (wood, green steel), recycled textiles for isolation paneling, energy efficiency & renewables, water/waste recycling (see relevant feature on spore hotel use case), sensor network for environment monitoring
Please give information about the key objectives of your project in terms of aesthetics and quality of experience beyond functionality and how these have been met
ROOM2030 has been designed and produced under a versatile, flexible product capable of adapting and responding to different situations and areas. The design and manufacture of the modular space, to harmoniously integrate all the technologies and solutions of the consortium partners, has been developed by [baragaño] and some of the notable milestones are:  4 reconfigurable and customizable modules  3 Types: Basic - Standard - Premium 1 room I 1 week manufacturing I 1 day of assembly.   Smart and ecological materials Self-cleaning and anticorrosive steel I Nano functional coatings I Insulation based on recovered textiles I Active glass Innovative solutions for health Lighting that reproduces the cycle of the sun I Rejuvenating probiotic mattresses I Smart toilet oriented to health and personal hygiene IOT and Big Data platforms I Sensorized structures Environmental efficiency Autonomous batteries Modular construction solutions I Reconfigurable room
Please give information about the key objectives of your project in terms of inclusion and how these have been met
ROOM2030 is designed under the parameters of the United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030.  The project is tought in order to facilitate inclusion through simple technology (when nature meets Human Technology). the living lab was already designed adapted for the disabled. The most important thing is that ROOM2030 can be used in order to sort out different social problems as : Incorporation of young people to the first home New elederly people residence New ways of Education
Please give information on the results/impacts achieved by your project in relation to the category you apply for
To achieve this, a new manufacturing process will be developed, along with a pilot plant to implement a production line fully industrialized, digitalized, and automated, following the example of the auto industry. The different links of the value chain will be integrated and connected to each other through the Room2030 Collaborative Digital Platform, that will also support the storage and analysis of all the data gathered from manufacturing processes and modules usage. On the other hand, the Covid pandemic has shown the need for new spaces and co-living & working lifestyles, where modularity gains a spotlight for its great capacity to respond to fast changing demands for occupation in markets like healthcare and tourism. Living spaces that allow for compartmentalization and isolation with comfort and health innovations, or co-working environments far from the most populated areas are some of the solutions that Room2030 brings to the table.
Please explain the way citizens benefiting from or affected by the project and civil society have been involved in the project and what has been the impact of this involvement on the project
This project will have a clear impact on the economy, both through technification and digitalization of the construction sector and because the transversal impact across the whole value chain. Regarding the environment, the new paradigm of off-site construction and the new concept of Ecofactory play a key role in the reduction of emissions and the push for a cleaner, circular industry, as the technologies implemented regarding these topics can be easily adapted by different sectors. ROOM2030 has already inspired new projects that target positive impacts on society, specifically demographic challenges in rural areas, namely the development of remote working “villages” in rural environments and natural spaces, to attract talent and help tackle the local challenges and find synergies with local entrepreneurs. ROOM2030 Living Lab, has been already placed in Niemeyer Center in Aviles, involving the museum and the citizens in different actings around the ROOM2030 module.
Please highlight the innovative character of the project
ROOM2030 startup arises from the consortium, which unites innovative companies and technological leaders in various sectors, to integrate and test their solutions and technologies, in a habitable laboratory, the so-called room2030, designed by [baragaño]. One of the main value provided by ROOM2030 is the innovation and technologies integrated in the modules. Born from an R&D consortium between key Spanish stakeholders from the construction sector, ROOM2030 collaborates with each of the partners to develop and adapt their technologies to the solution, re-defining the value chain as a new concept: ROOM2030 Ecosystem.
Please explain how the project led to results or learnings which could be transferred to other interested parties
ROOM2030 Collaborative Digital Platform: this cloud platform will interconnect every link of the value chain of ROOM2030 modular construction, acting as a Single-Entry Point platform from clients input and module design, optimize management of supply pool, operation monitoring of plant to the modules’ user interface/dashboard, data analysis and BMS (predictive maintenance). Digital Twin: design of sensor networks and modelling of structural behavior for the standard module and process flow in the manufacturing plant allow the development of digital models to be supported by the digital platform. These models will serve as digital blueprints for the expansion of the technology to external markets, creating a network of ROOM2030 manufacturing plants closer to high demand locations. Pilot Plant: the first of a kind automated manufacturing plant will be in itself a main deliverable, to demo the production process and serve as proof of success to the following factories.
